There are eighteen different import tasks, and these tell IFI what you’re trying to accomplish by importing this file.
Create/update people (outside of a project): Updates one person per record in the incoming data. Things you can do in this task: create/update or delete a person, add/update addresses, add/update/delete certifications, update custom fields values, add/remove from lists, update skills, requests, availability, etc.
Credit people with hours globally (outside of a project): Gives volunteers credit for work that they've performed. For incoming records, IFI will not allow you to duplicate existing credited hours, and if it can find an assignment for the person which matches the start time for the hours, it will keep that information rather than what you are importing here.
Add/remove people from lists (outside of a project): Adds or removes people from standard lists (you can’t change a person’s presence on an Intellilist, since they're automatically calculated).
Add/update training registrations and results (outside of a project): Creates, edits and deletes training records.
Update addresses associated with people (outside of a project): Adds or updates address information for the given person.
Add/update groups globally (outside of a project): Creates or edits groups, which are how people in VSys are organized globally. Groups are found by their existing name.
Make volunteer job assignments (both globally and within a project): Assigns people to specific jobs. When working within a project, to be given a job assignment, a person must already be registered in the project. See Module-specific notes for more information.
Create job slots: This task lets you create job slots in bulk. IFI does not check for conflicts here, and job slots cannot be edited or deleted using this task.
Add/update job and job group details (both globally and within a project): Creates and edits jobs and job groups and their attributes for that context (either globally or the current project).
Add/update locations (both globally and within a project): Creates and edits locations and their attributes for that context (either globally or the current project).
Add/update awards associated with people (outside of a project): Creates, edits and deletes awards (recognition) records.
Add/update memberships associated with people (outside of a project): Creates, edits and deletes membership records.
Add/update account records associated with people (outside of a project): Creates and edits, but does not delete, account transaction records.
Add/update interviews associated with people (outside of a project): Creates, edits or deletes interviews.
Add/update job associations associated with people (outside of a project): Creates, edits or deletes job associations.
Import, update and register people in this project (only within a project): Lets you add, edit, and delete people from the current project, as well as modify that person’s personal information. Use this to bulk register people into a project or modify their status within the project.
Credit volunteers with hours in this project (only within a project): Gives volunteers credit for work that they've performed. Note: someone does not have to be registered in a project to be given credit for hours performed in it. For incoming records, IFI will not allow you to duplicate existing credited hours, and if it can find an assignment for the person which matches the start time for the hours, it will use that existing information rather than what you enter here.
Add/update delegations in this project (only within a project): Another module used primarily for setting up a project, this task lets you create and edit delegations. Once created, a delegation cannot be deleted using IFI (it can be edited), but it may be edited or deleted manually.
